It''s oficial, the Sierras are blowing my mind and the funny part is that I have stopped hearing "This is nothing, it’s more beautiful down south". I thought they were joking. What landscapes, what power, I am so small in the middle of all of this, it's so good, so good! Mountain peak after mountain peak as far as the eye can see, nearly touching the stars, lake after lake, some patches of snow here and there and some forest down below.
On day 66 I slept under a few trees without a tent, on day 67 I didn't see more than 7 people all day long, but on day 68 I passed many hikers. "I will be mad if you don't call me to pick you up from the end of your journey and stay at my home with my family", said a 60+ years old guy whilst putting his tent up with friends. "You were that crazy guy running while you were going up the rocks, right?", he had asked earlier. On day 69 I woke up with my shoes & socks frozen, litelary, like a stone. After 30 minutes of walking, my beard froze too.
On day 70 I got a ride to Yosemite Valley. "Hey, can I hitchike with you?", asked a kid I had met the day before. We got 2 different rides, from a surfer the first half of the journey, then from a guy who has a catering service near the valley. Then a girl stopped and told us to jump in. I tried to open the hatchback to put our backpacks but it was locked, the kid tried to open the back door and it was also locked. We approached the window and said we couldn't open because it was locked. "Sorry I can't, I really can't", she said nervously before driving off. We looked at each other for a few seconds and burst out laughing. "What was that??", we said at the same time. For the next 2 or 3 hours, every time I remembered what had happened, I burst out laughing. What a moment!
Day 67 (26,1 km) - Calm walking;
Day 67 (44,5 km) - Falling in love with the Sierras;
Day 68 (40,5 km) - More & more in love with the Sierras;
Day 69 (23,7 km) - So cold;
Day 70 (0 km) - Yosemite.
